Springtime and TCM
Spring is finally here — and if you’re feeling the urge to open every window, reorganize your entire life, or just do something, you’re not alone. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), spring is all about the Liver. Not in a scary, clinical way — more like your body’s built-in flow manager.
The Liver’s main job in TCM is to keep your energy (your Qi) moving smoothly. Think of it like traffic control for your body. When things are flowing, you feel motivated, clear, and pretty on top of your life. When things get stuck? That’s when you might notice irritability, tension (hellooo, tight shoulders), headaches, bloating, or just feeling kinda “blegh” for no obvious reason.
And honestly, it makes sense! We’re coming out of winter — slower, heavier, more inward energy — and suddenly spring is like “ok go!!!” If your body hasn’t quite caught up yet, that stuck feeling can linger.
The good news: spring is the perfect time to shake things loose.
Start simple — move your body in ways that feel good. Walks, stretching, a little yoga, dancing around the house… it doesn’t have to be intense. The goal is just to get things flowing again. Fresh air helps drastically! Open your windows, get outside, let your environment wake up with you.
Food-wise, think lighter and fresher. Leafy greens, herbs, sprouts, lemony things — basically anything that feels crisp and alive. TCM lovesss to eat with the seasons! This is also a nice time to ease up on heavier, greasy foods and give your body a bit of a reset without going to extremes.
And… your mood? Very Liver-related. Spring can stir things up emotionally, so if you’re feeling a little more reactive or easily annoyed, that’s all part of it. Instead of pushing it down, let it move. Journal, vent, cry if you need to, go for a walk and process — it all counts.
And of course, acupuncture is kind of the MVP here?? It helps get your Qi moving, releases that built-up tension, and brings your system back into balance. People often leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more like themselves — which is exactly the vibe we’re going for!!
Spring is all about growth and movement — but it doesn’t have to be chaotic. A few small shifts can help you feel way more in sync with the season… and honestly, just a lot better in your body.
Ready to feel your BEST?! You know where to find me ;)
