How to live your best “Chinese Baddie” life

…And Why It’s More Than Just a Trend

If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve probably seen the videos: “What I’m doing daily as a Chinese baddie…” And (maybe to your surprise) it’s not biohacking or extreme wellness routines.

It’s simple, easy things to add to your day to day:

  • Warm lemon water first thing in the morning

  • Keeping your feet warm at all costs

  • Only eating warm, cooked meals

  • Covering your neck in the cold

  • Going to bed earlier (before 11pm!)

  • Drinking herbal teas instead of iced coffee

As an acupuncturist… I have to say…

I LOVE it here!!! Because for once, a “trend” is not just for aesthetics, but lifestyle choices rooted in Chinese Medicine to help you be and feel your best self! Nevertheless, let’s break down why these habits matter beyond TikTok. ;)

Warm Lemon Water in the Morning

In Chinese medicine, your digestive system (the Spleen and Stomach) prefers warmth. Starting your day with warm fluids supports circulation, reduces bloating, and wakes up digestion without shocking your system.

Ice water first thing in the morning?
That’s like throwing cold water on a fire you’re trying to start.

Warm = functional metabolism.
Cold = sluggish digestion.

“Chinese baddies” support their gut!

Keeping Your Feet Warm

Several important meridians begin or end in the feet — including Kidney energy, which in Chinese medicine governs reproduction, hormones, and deep vitality.

Cold exposure to the feet can contribute to:

  • Menstrual cramps

  • Low back pain

  • Fatigue

  • Frequent urination

  • Fertility struggles

Socks are not optional. Especially in these Rochester winters!!!

Warm feet = protected energy.

Warm, Cooked Meals

Raw salads. Protein smoothies. Iced everything… NO NO and NO!

In Chinese medicine, excessive cold and raw foods can weaken digestion over time — especially in people who are already depleted, postpartum, stressed, or trying to conceive.

Cooked foods are:

  • Easier to digest

  • Less taxing on your system

  • Better for nutrient absorption

  • Supportive of hormone balance

This doesn’t mean never eat a salad again, there’s a time and a place for it (hello, summer). It means your body thrives on warmth, especially in the winter. So, we need to feed it warmth!

Covering Your Neck in the Cold

The back of the neck is considered a vulnerable area where “Wind” (external pathogens) can enter the body.

Translation? You’re more likely to get sick when your neck is exposed to cold wind — especially if you’re already run down, which let’s admit, we all burn the candle at both ends… No? Just me?

Scarves aren’t just an accessory. They’re preventative medicine!

Protecting Your Sleep

Another thing I’m seeing in these videos? — Early nights. Less late-night stimulation. Protecting peace.

In Chinese medicine, 11pm–3am is when the Liver and Gallbladder restore blood and detoxify. Consistently staying up past that window can contribute to:

  • Hormonal imbalance

  • Irritability

  • PMS

  • Waking between 1–3am

  • Burnout

The real “baddie” move? Sleep…before 11pm!

So Is This Just a Trend?

Chinese medicine isn’t about being extreme.
It isn’t about perfection.
And it definitely isn’t about fear-based rules.

It’s about protecting your energy and bringing your body into balance so it can perform optimally.

The reason these habits are trending is because people are tired.

Tired of anxiety.
Tired of bloating.
Tired of hormonal chaos.
Tired of feeling dysregulated.

Warmth, rhythm, and consistency regulate the nervous system.

And when your nervous system is regulated?
Your hormones stabilize.
Your digestion improves.
Your sleep deepens.
Your mood softens.

That “glow” everyone’s chasing?

It’s circulation.
It’s nourishment.
It’s balance.
It’s EASY!!!

The Real “Chinese Baddie”…

She’s warm. She’s regulated. She protects her energy. She honors her cycles. She supports her digestion. She goes to bed early.

And that?

That’s not a trend. That’s medicine, my friend!

Ready to Go Beyond the Trend?

If you’re already doing the warm lemon water, the socks, the cooked meals — you’re off to a beautiful start. :)

But if you’re still dealing with:

  • Hormonal imbalances

  • PMS or painful periods

  • Bloating and sluggish digestion

  • Anxiety or poor sleep

  • Fertility challenges

  • Chronic tension or burnout

Sometimes your body needs more than lifestyle tweaks. Acupuncture works on a deeper level — regulating your nervous system, improving circulation, balancing hormones, and supporting your body’s natural rhythms.

If you’re local to Rochester and ready to feel truly regulated (not just aesthetically put together), I’d love to support you! You can book an appointment here or learn more about treatments on my website. I always offer free phone consultations if you’re interested but still a little unsure!

Let’s build your real-life “Chinese baddie energy” — from the inside out. You’ve got this!
