Chinese Medicine fertility tips

If you’re trying to conceive and looking for gentle, natural ways to support your fertility, Chinese medicine and fertility acupuncture can help create the balance your body needs to welcome new life. At Better Days Wellness, we believe fertility is about more than just conception—it’s about restoring harmony, nourishing your body, and reconnecting with your natural rhythms.

Here are simple, day-to-day tips inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that you can add to your repertoire to help you prepare your body for pregnancy and support your fertility journey with more ease and confidence. :)

1. Understand Fertility Through the Lens of Chinese Medicine

In TCM, fertility reflects your body’s overall health and balance. The strength of your Kidney energy, the quality of your Blood and Qi (vital energy), and the harmony of Yin and Yang all influence your ability to conceive.

When these systems are nourished—through rest, warmth, nutrition, and managing stress—your reproductive system naturally thrives. The goal isn’t just to get pregnant; it’s to create the healthiest internal environment for new life to grow!!

2. Support Your Body Through Each Cycle Phase

Your menstrual cycle offers a map for self-care. When you align your habits with your cycle, you work with your body instead of against it:

  • Menstrual Phase (Days 1–5): Focus on rest and warmth. Choose soups, teas, and easily digestible meals as your body releases and renews.

  • Follicular Phase (Days 6–13): Build blood and energy with nourishing foods like beets, spinach, bone broth, and eggs. Move your body gently to support circulation.

  • Ovulation (Days 14–16): This is your most fertile window!! Stay hydrated, eat light, Yin-nourishing foods (think cucumber, berries, and steamed greens), and keep stress to a minimum. Do something that brings you joy every day!

  • Luteal Phase (Days 17–28): Support implantation by keeping the body warm—no cold drinks or raw salads!!! They can cause stagnation in our middle, which isn’t an ideal environment for implantation. Ground yourself with cooked meals, early nights, and soft self-care. In other words — TREAT YOURSELF!

3. Nourish Yourself Daily

Consistency is everything when it comes to fertility support. A few guiding principles from Chinese medicine:

  • Eat warm, cooked meals to protect digestion and promote blood flow.

  • Keep your womb warm. No belly shirts! A heating pad or hot water bottle over the lower abdomen (especially post-ovulation) can be deeply supportive.

  • Prioritize rest. The Kidneys store your life essence—restore them through sleep, stillness, and saying no when you need to. Utilize those boundaries!

  • Manage stress. Acupuncture, deep breathing, or journaling help balance hormones and support emotional wellness. Did I already say do something every day that brings you joy??? … I mean it!

4. Herbal Support

I often recommend a custom herbal blend called Women’s Fertility Tonic, which I have in the office. This gentle herbal formula helps nourish Blood, tonify Kidney energy, and regulate the menstrual cycle—key foundations for optimal fertility. Herbal medicine is most effective when personalized. If you’re trying to conceive, a fertility consultation can help tailor the right formula for your unique body and cycle.

In addition to Chinese herbs, I like to recommend certain supplements to help support the body as well. Here is a list of what I have used in the past or have had experience with — use what speaks to you!

  • a prenatal (my favorite brands are Ritual, Needed, and Perelel)

  • a prenatal probiotic

  • CoQ10

  • Vitamin D, C, and B12

  • Floradix Iron + Herbs

  • Buffalo Liver Pills

  • Colostrum

5. Connect with Your Body

Fertility is not just physical—it’s emotional and energetic too. Reconnecting with your body helps reduce stress and builds trust in your natural rhythm. Try soft affirmations like:

  • “My body is open, balanced, and ready to receive.”

  • “Each cycle brings me closer to my baby.”

  • “I am nourishing the soil before the seed.”

Affirmations aren’t for everyone, but I promise — give it a shot and see if you feel different!

6. The Beauty of Consistency

Healing and conception take time—and that’s okay!!! All great things take time :)

Chinese medicine honors the body’s pace, helping you restore balance one step at a time. If you’re ready to deepen your fertility journey, fertility acupuncture and herbal support can help regulate your cycle, calm your nervous system, and nourish your reproductive health. At Better Days Wellness, we’re here to support you with personalized care rooted in the wisdom of Chinese medicine—because when your body feels nurtured, conception naturally follows.

sending love and light and all the best vibes!
