Finding Balance in the Fall

As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall, our bodies instinctively start to slow down. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), fall is the season of the Lungs and Large Intestine—organs that help us take in what we need, and let go of what we don’t. Just like the trees releasing their leaves, this is the perfect time to clear out old energy and make space for renewal!

You might notice the shift of the season in your body or mood—dry skin, allergies, cough, fatigue, or a sense of sadness or nostalgia are all common this time of year. The fall energy is about grief and release, but also about structure and rhythm—setting healthy boundaries, routines, and self-care habits that carry you through the colder months.

This is where acupuncture and TCM can be deeply supportive. Acupuncture helps strengthen the Lung energy, boost immunity, and keep your Qi flowing smoothly as temperatures drop and cold season comes around. If you’re feeling run-down, congested, or emotionally heavy, a few treatments can help you feel grounded and balanced again, while also clear out those nasal passages!

Cupping can help relieve physical and emotional tension, loosen the chest, and support the immune system—which is especially useful if you tend to catch colds easily in the fall. Chinese herbs can work to nourish dryness, calm coughs, and help the body adjust to the seasonal change, physically and emotionally!

This season invites us to slow down, breathe deeply, and care for ourselves with intention. If your body’s been asking for extra support, fall is a beautiful time to listen!
